Canelo Alvarez: The Best Pound-For-Pound Fighter

Canelo Alvarez has proven to the boxing world why he’s the best pound for pound fighter by defeating Caleb Plant by TKO in the 11th round on Saturday, November 6 to become the undisputed super middleweight champion. Alvarez’s Power Punches was able to break Plant’s defence when mattered the most. Alvarez’s relentless pressure and feints also played a huge part in this win as Plant’s left side of the body were red in the early rounds. SHOWTIME Pay Per View’s ALL ACCESS displayed that Alvarez was ready for this fight since it was announced training extra carefully perfecting his strengths and weaknesses while Plant showcased working on himself and his family. ALL ACCESS hasn’t disappointed boxing fans keeping them in the loop of what goes on during the fight proving it to be a distraction sometimes to fighters, but this ALL ACCESS was a little different as it started off with Alvarez pushing Plant in their first press conference together then Plant preaching that Alvarez was a cheater by using drugs. Once the fight was over, Alvarez explained the victory meant so much to Mexico and gave Plant praise: “It means so much to me, for the history of Mexico, to be an undisputed champion. My respect to Caleb Plant. He’s a very difficult fighter with a lot of ability. I do respect the fighter. We’re men at the end. He wanted to continue. I said, ‘There’s no shame. We had a great fight today.'”

For now, Alvarez can rest and enjoy being the undisputed super-middleweight champion while his next move will be planned by his trainer Chepo Reynoso and promoter Eddie Hearn. It wouldn’t make sense for him to move up in weight, but rather have an opponent move up in weight to challenge him and that opponent is Gennady Golovkin. Both have fought twice with the first one being a draw and Alvarez winning this second one, it makes sense for Golovkin and Alvarez to fight for a thrid time this time at super-middleweight.
