As multiple sports continue to expand their leagues in the US, more and more cities have multiple sports to enjoy. It gives the residents (and people across the world) multiple teams to root for. The success of the sports teams not only is an economic booster, but also bring together a whole city that roots for a common goal.

There are even studies that go into tracking which cities dominate in sports in terms of winning, number of fans and revenue. America is crazy about their sports, and rightfully so. Here is a list of the top 5 best sports cities in the US.

Boston, Massachusetts

It would be crazy for this city to not be on the list. Boston sports are cocky, but then again, they probably have a reason to be. The New England Patriots (NFL), Boston Bruins (NHL), Boston Celtics (NBA), and Boston Red Sox (MLB) all consistently find themselves being hard competitors in their respective sports.

Boston fans have been described as “spoiled” because of the iconic eras and runs the teams in the city have had. The Patriots, with the help of Bill Belichick and Tom Brady, shaping and dominating modern professional football. The Bruins being a playoff team year in and year out, the golden era of Bird versus Magic or the revival of the Lakers/Celtics rivalry during the Kobe era of the Lakers, the Red Sox being one of the most popular baseball teams in the league.

Boston has cemented itself as the crème of the crop in terms of sports with 38 total championships across the big four sports.

New York, New York (and yes New Jersey as well)

They say if you can make it in New York, you can make it anywhere. The New York and New Jersey sports make up substantial chunk of the northeastern teams. Football has: New York Giant, New York Jets. Hockey has: New York Rangers and Islanders, New Jersey Devils. Baseball has New York Yankees and New York Mets. Basketball has Brooklyn Nets and New York Knicks.

New York fans are tough. They expect a lot from their many teams and if they aren’t up to scratch, you can bet the players will hear about it. The 10 teams have 52 championships between them.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Another city with some tough fans. Heckling, anger, with a bit of love is normally what you get from Philly sports fans. Each team in Philly have had their up and downs (like their state rivals over in Pittsburgh). The teams of Philly are the Philadelphia Eagles (NFL), the Philadelphia Flyers (NHL), the Philadelphia 76er (NBA), AND Philadelphia Phillies (MLB).

The city of brotherly love has rich history with sports and the push and pull of fans.

Los Angeles, California

Sun, beaches, glamor, and good sports, who could ask for more. Los Angeles has a different flare with sports because of the glitz and glamor that comes with being an iconic entertainment city. Like the bright lights of New York sports, you will see an array of people at Los Angeles games, most notably movie and music stars

The Los Angeles sports scene includes: The Lakers and Clippers (NBA), The Kings (NHL), The Dodgers (MLB), and the Raiders and Rams (NFL).

Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw delivers a pitch against the Mets.

Denver, Colorado

With sweeping mountains and snowy hills, Denver is a sneaky good place for sports fans. The fans may not be as overzealous as Philly and it might not be as glamorous as Los Angeles, but Denver sports holds its own.

The Colorado Rockies is the baseball team. The NFL has the Broncos, Nuggets in the NBA, and the NHL has the aptly named Avalanche.
