Tyreek Hill traded to Miami Dolphins; what the Kansas City Chiefs got in return

Tyreek Hill traded to Miami is the most talked about trade in the last couple of days. From Multiple Pro-bowls, breaking franchise records and winning a Super Bowl for Kansas City, speedster Tyreek Hill is ready to take his talents South Beach. Now that Miami has a good possession receiver in rookie wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, they now have their deep threat in Hill who is considered amongst his peers as one of the fastest players in the NFL. Hill who was an all-around athlete in high school has taken his game to new heights. The Miami Dolphins organization are hoping that Hill and young quarterback Tua Togavailoa can become a dynamic duo in the passing game. The third year QB has been criticized for his inability to throw the ball down field in crucial situations but now with Hill’s ability to stretch the field all of that should change. Tyreek Hill to Miami is the start of something special.

Hill has a unique background as an athlete having played football, basketball and ran track during his school years. He set records in the state of Georgia as a sprinter running a 20.14 in the 200 meters in 2012 and 9.98 in the 100 meters in 2013. He also participated in the long jump competition jumping 7.28 and 4×100 relay race finishing with 38.67 in 2012. These accolades help make Hill an All-American in the state of Georgia for track & field. The all-state athlete could have trained for the 2016 Olympics but decided to pursue his career which was on the grid iron. While playing for Coffee High School he did not get national attention of the division 1 schools in the country. He also became a star on the basketball court for Coffee High School before going off to college.

Due to not being recruited by a D-1 college or having the best grades Tyreek Hill attended Garden City Community College in his early collegiate years where he played the running back position and wide receiver. He went on to have 67 receptions for 532 yards and rushed for 659 rushing yards. Hill led the team in all-purpose yardage with 1,191 yards and grabbing 5 touchdowns to finish his sophomore season. This performance got the attention of big school Oklahoma State which is where Hill transferred going into his junior year of college. Based on his speed and athleticism Hill would be asked to fill the roles of kick returner, punt returner, wide receiver and running back in his first season with the Cowboys. He led the team in all-purpose yards with 534 rushing yards, 381 receiving yards and 996 return yards.

After having an outstanding junior year with Oklahoma State Tyreek Hill would start to get national attention from many Division 1 school and NFL scouts. Most college analysts assumed Hill would stay with the Cowboys for his senior season he decided to transfer schools again this time playing for West Alabama. He would be asked to play the same positions he played during his junior year at Oklahoma State. He led the Tigers in in all-purpose yards making one of few players to lead 3 different schools in all-purpose yardage. Based upon his body of work he displayed in college football and his background as a track star NFL scouts looked to recruit Hill going into the 2016 NFL Draft. During the combine he ran a 4.29 in the 40-yard dash, leaped 40.2 in the vertical jump and 10ft 9inches in the broad jump which are all equivalent to what he did in his track competitions. All these tests would help build his stock making him an even higher draft pick going forward.

Hill was a steal for the Kansas City Chiefs drafted 156th overall in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. As a rookie Tyreek Hill became the return specialist finishing the season with almost 1,000 yards in return yards. He would be named as a first team all-pro as return specialist. In his sophomore season he would be asked to become a starter at the wide receiver position averaging 17.7 yards per catch, notched 1,183 receiving yards, and pulled in 7 touchdowns to finish the season. He would play in his first playoff game but would lose to the Tennessee Titans in a Wild-Card showdown. Going into the 2018 offseason the franchise would make the decision to make their young quarterback Patrick Mahomes the full-time starter making him and Hill a dynamic duo in Kansas City history. He started all 16 games for the first time in his career with 87 receptions, 1,478 receiving yards, 12 TDS and a career-high 17.0 yards per catch. For the second time in his career, he would receive first team all-pro honors.

Now that the sports world knew who Tyreek Hill brought to the game of football, he was ready to help his team make a run for the championship. Early in the season he would miss the season due to off the field issues only allowing him to play 12 games. He would have one of his worst seasons statically because of time missed but managed to help his team in the post-season. Going into the 2020 playoffs hill had career-high 24 receptions for 355 receiving yards while averaging 14.4 yards per catch. This type of play would help lead his team pass the Houston Texans and the Tennessee Titans before facing a physical 49ers defense in Super Bowl 54. The Chiefs would get off to slow start but with the connection between Hill and Mahomes, the duo found a way to defeat San Francisco with a deep bomb to seal the win. Hill became a Super Bowl champion in 2020 and helped the team go to back-to-back championships losing to Tampa Bay in 2021.

He would go onto have more success with two consecutive 1,000-yard seasons in the 2020 & 2021 seasons, becoming a multiple-time pro bowler and making the 2010 all-decade team. Hill is considered as one of the best deep threats to ever lace up a pair of cleats. In the 2022 offseason Hill would find a new home after being traded to the Dolphins for some upcoming draft picks. The young Dolphins team are looking to build around their young QB in hopes of making a run for the playoffs. Tyreek Hill traded to Miami could be the best decision the Dolphins have made since drafting former Crimson Tide slot receiver Jaylen Waddle.
