Say what you want about Floyd Mayweather and Logan Paul, but the two know how to make money.

Lots of it.

Before the fight, Paul had a net worth in the range of $19 million while Mayweather was estimated to be in the $450 million to $1.2 billion range.

On Sunday night, the internet celebrity battled one of the greatest boxers of all time in another opportunity to rake in the cash. The two competed in a highly-anticipated eight-round exhibition boxing match with no judges at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, FL.

Here are the major takeaways from Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul:

Mayweather’s still got it

The 44-year-old Mayweather was the betting favorite to knock Paul out Sunday night, but it seemed Mayweather just wanted to get in the ring and have some fun.

Despite fighting a competitor 18 years younger and 35 pounds heavier than himself, Mayweather made everything look effortless in the ring. Arguably the greatest defensive boxer of all time, Mayweather barely got touched throughout the duration of the fight while landing solid shots on Paul.

He clearly out-boxed Paul, but who didn’t expect that?

Not known for his knockout power, Mayweather connected on some heavy power punches that had Paul reeling, and fans were skeptical that Mayweather even held Paul up from getting knocked out multiple times.

The far superior boxer with over 25 years of experience, Mayweather could have ended the fight whenever he wanted. Maybe he kept Paul in it with a lucrative rematch in mind, or maybe he respected Paul too much to knock him out in front of millions watching around the world.

Paul held his own

Despite it being his second-ever professional boxing match (the first of which he lost to YouTuber KSI in September of 2019), Paul was able to last eight rounds with one of the greatest to ever grace the ring.

Paul might have actually won the first round, as he used his size advantage to smother Mayweather and land flurries of punches against the ropes. While many of the punches didn’t do any damage, Paul was still able to mount an offensive attack against arguably the greatest defensive boxer ever.

The fact Paul had the stamina to endure eight three-minute rounds with Mayweather was also extremely impressive. While he showed signs of fatigue in his corner between rounds and at the end of the fight, Paul can say for the rest of his life that he went the distance with Floyd Mayweather.

It was a spectacle, but a controlled one

Going into this fight, everybody knew it was going to be extremely unbalanced and break almost every cardinal rule of boxing.

The two fighters had a weight difference of 35 pounds and it saw an internet celebrity competing against one of the all time greats.

The fight should have been a train wreck. Many believed something would go wrong or somebody would get seriously hurt.

Thankfully, the fight was a controlled spectacle that saw both men respect the sport and each other.

Of course, a title fight between two world champions would have been a better fight, Mayweather vs. Paul was a pleasant surprise. While everybody wanted to see a knockout and people will always complain about too much clinching or “hugging,” the fight went much better than many people thought it would.
