The following picks are the writers own, and not to be taken as gambling advice.

In the last set of gambling picks, we went 4-1. This weekend is loaded with NBA playoffs and of course, the U.S. Open.

Hawks +3 (6/18)

Kicking off our new gambling picks, Philadelphia finds themselves down 3-2 to Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks after an epic collapse in game five. The Hawks erased a 26 point deficit on the road to take game five 109-106. Young was his usual self, posting 39 points and seven assists en route to a win. That type of game can be demoralizing for a team in the Sixers situation. Series tied 2-2, at home and up almost 30 points and you lose? Now you have to fend off elimination, in Atlanta after a tragic loss. I like the Hawks to cover +3 and win the game. Trae Young has been a menace in the playoffs and I am sure he would love nothing more than to send the Sixers home in front of his home fans. Additionally, Philadelphia is 2-4 in their last six games against the spread while playing on the road. The momentum and confidence is all with Atlanta heading into game six.

Los Angeles Clippers +1 (6/18)

After going up 2-0 on the Clippers, the Jazz are reeling. They have lost three straight to go down 3-2 and the three losses have been by an average of 16 points. The most recent loss, the Clippers were without superstar Kawhi Leonard. To make matters worse, Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell is currently listed as “questionable” heading into game six. Read more about Mitchell here. If he is unable to go, the Jazz are in serious trouble. Mitchell is averaging 31.5 points, 5.1 assists and 3.6 rebounds in the playoffs so far. Utah has guard depth in Jordan Clarkson but that production will he very difficult to replicate if Mitchell’s ankle can’t hold up. The Clippers showed they can win without Leonard in game five and now the series heads back to the Staples Center. Expect Paul George to continue his redemption tour after dropping 37 points on 54% shooting in the game five win.

2nd round 3 ball: Bryson DeChambeau +105 (6/18)

In a 3 ball bet, there are three players and in order to win the bet, you have to choose the player with the lowest score among the three in that round. In this case, we are looking at round two and the three golfers are Hideki Matsuyama, Bryson DeChambeau and Tyler Strafaci, offered on Bovada. Matsuyama, the reigning Masters champion, currently sits at -2, DeChambeau is at +2 and Strafaci had a rough day one, posting a seven over par. This bet is about DeChambeau. In PGA majors, whenever DeChambeau shoots over par for a certain round, he has a tendancy to bounce back the next day. In the 2021 Masters, DeChambeau shot a four-over 76 on day one. He followed that up with a five-under 67 the very next day. DeChambeau birdied 7/18 holes that round. In the 2021 PGA Championship, he shot an even par on day one. He then shot the next two rounds under par. DeChambeau is very calculated and it is rare he makes the same mistakes twice. The below tweet perfectly explains the way DeChambeau operates when he thinks he struggled.

Nets ML +100 (6/19)

Wrapping up our gambling picks, we have a game seven happening at the Barclay Center between the third seeded Milwaukee Bucks and the second seeded Brooklyn Nets. The Nets are most likely going to be without all-star point guard Kyrie Irving, who suffered an ankle injury in game four. The Nets have proven time and time agin that they do not need all three of their superstars to win games. According to FiveThirtyEight, the Nets big three of Harden, Durant and Irving have played the least amount of minutes together on the floor than any of a teams top three scorers in the since 1996-97. Only 5.8% of the Nets minutes have been played with a lineup that featured Harden, Durant and Irving on the floor. They are no stranger to having to deal with being down a star. Playing at home in an elimination game, I believe that the best player in the series is Kevin Durant and that is usually what I lean on when picking a game seven.
